Starting today: Online course on battery storage technology

Based on the results of the first REEEM roadmap on battery storage application (see deliverable D2.1a), an online course has been designed and produced by InnoEnergy in order to answer the question: Could battery storage technology be the answer to imbalanced energy demands? This course primarily is based on the analyses and findings of the REEEM roadmap and will cover: The need for flexibility demand in the EU electricity industry and the role of battery storage. Battery storage technologies: characteristics, potentials...

REEEM Technology and Innovation Roadmap Workshop on Energy Efficiency in Buildings now open for registration!

On March 19th 2019, the third REEEM Technology and Innovation Roadmap Workshop on Energy Efficiency in Buildings will take place at EIT InnoEnergy in Brussels. Energy efficiency is at the top of the EU priorities for the Energy Union, as stated in the Clean Energy Package for all Europeans as “Energy Efficiency First”. Therefore, the objective of the REEEM roadmap is to explore innovative methods and technologies that enable reaching EU energy efficiency targets for 2030. It further explores the...

REEEM at the 3rd H2020 Projects Clustering Workshop on Energy System

On November 6th, REEEM took part in the 3rd H2020 Projects Clustering Workshop on Energy System Modelling, held at INEA premises, in Brussels. Here, eight projects (REEEM, SET-Nav, MEDEAS, REflex, Plan4RES, MAGNITUDE, Planet and SPINE) discussed with INEA and the European Commission’s DG Research and Innovation and DG Energy ways to increase the collaboration between funded actions and to extract joint messages on energy transitions to be conveyed to policy makers. The four projects funded under LCE21-2015, REEEM, SET-Nav, MEDEAS...

REEEM participates at a High Level Workshop to inform the revised long-term EU decarbonisation strategy

On June 28th, REEEM took part in the High Level Workshop on ‘R&I contribution to the strategy for long term EU greenhouse gas emissions reduction’ held in Brussels, at the Headquarters of the European Commission’s DG R&I. The workshop was organised by DG Clima and DG R&I in the context of the consultation process for the revised long-term EU decarbonisation strategy looking at 2050 and beyond. REEEM and five other projects (CDLINKS, CARISMA, ADVANCE, REINVENT, INNOPATHS and TRANSRISK) presented their...

Open Energy Modelling Workshop – Zurich 2018

At last weeks meeting of the open energy modelling community (openmod) in Zurich, Berit Müller from the REEEM consortium gave a lightening talk about the development of the REEEMgame and the Pathways Dialogue tool  developed in the project. We got good feedback and interesting comments. Many other interesting open-source tools have been presented there, like e.g. pyam – an open-source Python package for IAM scenario analysis and visualization. For more information about the Workshop have a look at the openmod...

Renewable energy roadmap workshop

On the 17th April 2018, the REEEM project has hosted its second REEEM Technology and Innovation Roadmap Workshop on Renewable Energy Integration, in Brussels. Renewable energy has the potential to play a big role in the transition pathways toward a European low carbon society. In accordance, ambitious targets have been set for development and deployment of renewable energies in the last decades. To achieve this ambition, there is a need for technological innovation and sustained market supports for the development of the renewable energies, as well as for finding approaches...

REEEM participated to the Decarbonisation Projects Networking Workshop

On behalf of REEEM, KTH took part to the Decarbonisation Projects Networking Workshop co-organised by the European Commission’s DG RTD and the Executive Agency for SMEs (EASME) on February 7th, 2018. Two sessions of the workshop were dedicated to panel discussions on zero-emission pathways and on the costs & challenges of the low-carbon transition in the main emitting sectors in the EU; one session was dedicated to poster presentations, where REEEM contributed with a work on ”; the last session...

Upcoming: REEEM participates in the Decarbonisation Networking Workshop in Brussels

Francesco Gardumi from KTH, on behalf of the REEEM project, will participate to the Decarbonisation Networking Workshop co-organised by the European Commission’s DG RTD and the Executive Agency for SMEs (EASME) on February 7th, 2018. The workshop will bring together EU-funded climate mitigation projects with the objective to stimulate peer-to-peer and science-to-policy discussions on how to get the most out of EU-funded projects for the benefit of the society and policy-making. The four LCE21-2015 projects REEEM, MEDEAS, SET-Nav and REflex,...

REEEM stakeholder workshop on EU Energy transition pathways

Organised jointly by KTH, University of Stuttgart and University College London, the REEEM Stakeholder Workshop on pathway definition was held in Brussels, on October 6th. 19 invitees from the academia, research centers, private consultancies as well as the EC participated actively in 4 work sessions. The main theme of the workshop was the definition of long-term, energy transition and decarbonisation pathways for the EU, to be analysed with the multi-sectoral modelling framework set up in the REEEM project. The core...

REEEM Stakeholder Workshop on the definition of EU decarbonisation pathways

On October 6th, the REEEM project will hold a Stakeholder Workshop at InnoEnergy premises, Brussels. The workshop, first of a series of two, will focus on the definition of decarbonisation pathways for the EU energy system. After an initial presentation by the European Commission’s DG RTD and by REEEM, the participants will work in groups and provide their insights on relevant context, technical and policy assumptions.
