EMP-E 2019 now open for registration

On 8th – 9th October 2019, the Energy Modelling Platform for Europe Conference (EMP-E 2019) will take place for the third time. This conference is hosted by nine projects funded within the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme – MEDEAS , MAGIC, MAGNITUDE, plan4res, PLANET, REEEM, Reflex, SET-Nav and Spine – and is open to experts, scientists and policy makers, to exchange views and research on current energy modelling issues. The conference takes place in Brussels at the...

Dr Pei-Hao Li (UCL) presents REEEM research at International Energy Workshop (IEW) in Gothenburg

On Tuesday the 19th of June, Dr Pei-Hao Li presented at IEW his research on integrating demand side flexibility from smart appliances and electric vehicles into energy systems modelling. This research co-funded by REEEM highlights the potentially significant impacts such flexibility could have on peak load and system costs and the need for energy system models to better describe such options within their modelling framework.

Special Issue on EMP-E 2017 ‘Energy transition and decarbonisation pathways for the EU’ now online

The first papers of the Virtual Special Issue ‘Energy transition and decarbonisation pathways for the EU‘ of Energy Strategy Reviews (Elsevier) are now online, with introduction by the European Commission’s DG Ener, DG JRC and DG R&I. The Special Issue focuses on the modelling methodologies, case studies and policy-relevant insights discussed at the first meeting of the Energy Modelling Platform for Europe (EMP-E) organised by the REEEM project. The collection provides a peer-reviewed digest of models and insights on decarbonisation...

Upcoming EMP-E 2018 meeting: Modelling clean energy pathways

The next meeting of the Energy Modelling Platform for Europe (EMP-E) will be held held on September 25th-26th in Brussels, at the premises of the European Commission’s DG R&I. Key themes discussed at the 2018 meeting will be Innovation in the energy transition, Integrated modelling of energy and resource efficiency and Modelling of behavioural aspects. The first day will be dedicated to plenary sessions, while the second day will be dedicated to parallel focus group sessions. On both days the...

REEEM participated to the Decarbonisation Projects Networking Workshop

On behalf of REEEM, KTH took part to the Decarbonisation Projects Networking Workshop co-organised by the European Commission’s DG RTD and the Executive Agency for SMEs (EASME) on February 7th, 2018. Two sessions of the workshop were dedicated to panel discussions on zero-emission pathways and on the costs & challenges of the low-carbon transition in the main emitting sectors in the EU; one session was dedicated to poster presentations, where REEEM contributed with a work on ”; the last session...

New website of the Energy Modelling Platform for Europe (EMP-E)

The website of the Energy Modelling Platform for Europe (EMP-E) has been renewed. You may visit it at www.energymodellingplatform.eu. It features general information, news and upcoming events, one page dedicated to the outcomes of the EMP-E 2017 meeting (including the results of a survey run with all the participants) and one page dedicated to the upcoming EMP-E 2018 meeting including all relevant information. The website also displays the essence of the Platform, a page of ‘Resources’. This collects information on all...

Second meeting of the EMP-E “Energy Modelling Platform for Europe”

The Energy Modelling Platform for Europe (EMP-E) culminates in a yearly conference, bringing together scientists and policy makers to discuss cutting edge energy modelling issues. Stakeholders are provided with a peer-reviewed digest of model and policy insights for European energy scenario. The platform serves as a continuous forum for exchanging research, development and practice of energy system modelling in Europe and, where feasible, promote the sharing of data and resources. It thus shall increase the efficiency, integrity and access to...
